Pharmacology of Alben DS 400 mg
A broad spectrum anthelmintic is albendazole. The compound albendazole possesses larvicidal, ovicidal, and vermicidal properties. It is believed that the medication works as an anthelmintic by preventing the vulnerable helminths from absorbing glucose, which lowers their energy levels until they are insufficient for survival. The parasite then follows immobilization. Albendazole and its metabolites bind to parasite tubulin and subsequently impede its polymerization, which could explain these occurrences, even though the medicine also binds to human tubulin. The liver is most likely where albendazole undergoes substantial metabolism. Albendazole undergoes a quick and extensive first-pass metabolism while being poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal system. Albendazole sulphoxide, the primary metabolite, has a plasma half-life of roughly 8.5 hours and anthelmintic action. It and other metabolites are eliminated through the urine.
